Vancouver’s attitude toward snow hasn’t changed in over 100 years

According to Blake Butler, one of the talented Project Managers here at Know History, Vancouver’s image as a place with “mild winters” was intentionally shaped to draw in visitors after the city incorporated in 1886.

To better understand Vancouver’s “evergreen mentality,” Blake further explored the city’s relationship with snow for his 2023 PhD dissertation and had the opportunity to share some of his findings with CBC News.
