Know History is happy to share that we and our partners NVision Insight Group and Konek Productions will be participating in the Franklin Expedition Inuit Oral History Project. We look forward to supporting Inuit knowledge holders, community members, and Parks Canada experts in documenting Inuit knowledge about the 1845 Franklin Expedition and the wrecks of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror.
From May 16-19th, the Centre for Rupert’s Land Studies hosted their biennial colloquium, which took place in Grande Prairie, AB, in beautiful “Peace River Country.” The colloquium brought together fur trade and Métis historians, local archivists, students, researchers, and heritage enthusiasts to talk about a diverse range of topics and methodologies.
On Sunday, May 6, the Know History team came together to bike and walk for an amazing cause. For the past decade, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) has put together a charity bike ride and walk to raise money to fight childhood cancers. The initiative has helped purchase life-saving equipment, bring families closer to their sick relatives, and improve the lives of Ontario’s children.
From time to time our Know History team members contribute stories to the History Hub on things that inspire and interest them. Below is a short piece by Associate Brittney Bos on Carleton University’s annual Heritage Symposium.
