S2E18: Playing the Past, with Dany Guay-Bélanger

October 10, 2019

We can all name video games with history in them: Age of EmpiresAssassin’s Creed, or the classic Oregon Trail. But have you ever thought about the history of video games themselves? Video games are an art form, a story-telling medium, and a part of modern culture. Not only do they communicate history, but they themselves have and are a part of history.

In this episode, our hosts are joined by Dany Guay-Bélanger, Know History Associate and creator of project Deadplay. Join Dany as he discusses the study of video games, asking how they have been studied, what exactly is a video game, and whether there such thing as a Canadian video game history. It might change the way you view this popular pastime!
